Tornado Victory at Pumpkin Bowl

On Wednesday, October 20, at 7:00 PM the Anoka Tornadoes took to the field to face the Park Center Pirates in the annual Pumpkin Bowl. Goodrich field was renamed Brock Field for the night in honor of the traditional game. Tornado fans dressed in black and came ready to win. The night started strong for Anoka, with #20 Ryan Rand getting a touch down in the first quarter. The Pirates followed this with a field goal to make the score 7-3 in the beginning of the second quarter. Then to increase Anoka’s lead, #29 Nick Morrison added another 6 to the tornado score board. On defense #36 Reid Lang made a great tackle towards the end of the half. With a halftime score of 14-3, the Anoka Royal Ambassadors took the field to be recognized for their great achievements. Following this, was the Twister Dance Team performance to Low. The dancers dressed in their best Halloween costumes, some of which included characters from Toy Story, fruit, mad-haters, and lifesavers. The marching band also got into the spirit of Halloween, performing their number with tombstones, and having the color guard resemble zombies. When the football playing resumed #23 Matt Pint scored a touch down. Towards the end of the third quarter, #34 Eric Brumbaugh made a great interception which brought much excitement to the fans. Finally in the fourth, #23 Matt Pint scored another touch down, and kicker #14 Tim Strueve successfully added the extra point making the final score of the game 35-3.
