Orioles put up a hard fight to the finish

Despite tenacious offense, the Anoka girls soccer team won the Osseo Oriole, 1-0, at Tuesday’s game.
The game for Anoka started off slowly as they adjusted to Osseo’s intense offense. Goalie Sonya Smith, 12, was kept busy defending the goal from oncoming attacks.
“I thought they were strong; [they] played well,” Smith says.
It wasn’t uncommon for Osseo to slip past Anoka throughout the game; their forwards were quick on their feet. However, true to Anoka tradition, the girls pulled through with the final, distinguishing goal.
