It was a tale of two cities, the two A-towns coming together on the field last Friday night, September 24th (“Where the temperature on the field was a comfortable 78 degrees.” said by the Anoka football announcer.) to battle it out in the all American game of football.

Both teams played equally well during the first half of the game.  Scoring one touchdown and an extra point but Anoka pulled out ahead by scoring a field goal.  This making the score at half time 10-7, with Anoka leading the way.  After the half time show by the Anoka dance team (The Twisters) and marching band, the teams back on the field batter back and forth on all parts of the field neither team scoring for what seemed like forever.

As the forth quarter began the hopes were high and the fan excitement was mounted for the Tornadoes to extend the lead.  However the hopes were dashed when the Huskies out scored the Tornadoes, 17-27.

Although the game was a defeat for the Tornadoes, the battle at Goodrich field shows the heart of the Tornadoes was in the game the whole time and there is no doubt all the players left everything on the field.  Although the battle of the A-towns is over for this year, Friday’s game against the Osseo Oriels will prove to be another battle for the Tornadoes.  So show your Anoka Tornado pride and head to Osseo to cheer on the Anoka football team.
